What is Sea Moss?
Sea Moss is a nutrient dense algae that holds 90% of the minerals and vitamins our bodies need for proper function. It is firm in texture and ranges in colour from green, red, purple, brown and the most seen colour, golden white. Sea Moss has many benefits and is commonly used to create a gel which has a wide array of traditional uses.

Which minerals and nutrients does sea moss contain?
Some of the minerals that Sea Moss contains are Zinc, Iodine, Iron, Calcium, Potassium, B Complex Vitamins, Sodium, Sulphur and Silicon. It is a great source of dietary fiber, Vitamin K, Copper, Riboflavin, Folate, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Manganese, Protein, Beta Carotene, B Vitamins, Pectin, Taurine (an amino acid usually lacking in vegan and vegetarian diets) and Vitamin C.
It also has Chromium, Omega 3 & 6, Amino Acids, and Vitamins A, D, E & F. These are all essential nutrients that you need to support and maintain healthy bodily functions.
How to make sea moss gel?
- Rinse sea moss to remove extra salt and sand
- Soak for 24 hours with lime
- Drain soaking water and rinse again thoroughly
- Blend with spring water - 1 cup moss with 1 1/2 cup water
- Keep in fridge, stays fresh for up to 3 weeks.
How to use Sea moss Gel?
You can eat the Sea Moss Gel with a spoon, add it to your tea, coffee, protein shake, juice or smoothies, or even cook with it. You can also use it as a salad dressing, dip for fruit, a face mask, hydrating hair mask or as a vegan thickening agent when cooking!
How to store and keep sea moss fresh?
1) keep it cold in the fridge
2) always use a clean dry spoon when dipping into the jar
3) tightly close the jar
Can you freeze sea moss?
Yes, freezing your Sea Moss Gel can extend the shelf life from 3 weeks to 3 months. If you have a lot of Sea Moss Gel and are worried about it going bad, we recommend putting the gel in ice cube trays and freezing it.
Sea Moss ice cubes are extremely convenient and easy to add to your smoothies, soups or porridge. You can even rub them on your face in the mornings to help reduce puffiness, shrink pores and brighten your skin.
What is the Shelf Life?
Raw dried sea moss has a shelf life of about one year when stored in a cool, dry and dark space.
Sea Moss Gel is a perishable item that has a shelf life of about 2 to 3 weeks, depending on storage and use. As it is a natural product there is no guarantee on shelf life.

What is the recommended dosage? Is it the same for adults and children?
Seamoss is a natural product and is safe for both adults and children, but as with all things it should be consumed in moderation. For adults, it is recommended to consume 1-2 tablespoons of sea moss gel daily and 1 teaspoon daily for children. First thing in the morning is best, but it doesn’t matter if you take it at any time of the day.

What does sea moss taste like?
Sea Moss itself does not have a taste. We wash our Sea Moss thoroughly and soak it with key lime when preparing our Sea Moss Gel, which helps to neutralize any of the ocean smell or taste.

Is there anyone who shouldn’t take Sea moss?
If you are taking thyroid medication, it is recommended to speak to your doctor before taking sea moss.
Sea moss is known to be rich in iodine, which is good for your thyroid, but if you're taking medication that has iodine in it, along with sea moss, you could have way too much of a good thing and it could possibly negatively affect the gland.
